Tuna Steaks Italienne

Ingredients:

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks (120gms each)
  • 1-2 cloves garlic
  • 75gms onion
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 225gms chopped canned tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • lemon curls
  • serves 2

Directions:

  1. Wrap tuna steaks in foil. Bake at 190C for 20-25 minutes.
  2. Crush garlic and finely chop onion, dry fry onion and garlic for 2 minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes, parsley, basil and pepper, bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes until sauce has thickened.
  4. Score tuna steaks with a red hot skewer, forming a criss-cross pattern.
  5. Serve with the sauce and a fresh salad. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon peel curls.
