Italian Meat Balls

Ingredients:

  • 400gms 90% fat free minced beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley and herbs (eg: sage)
  • 2 pinches cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • salt and pepper
  • serves 4.

Sauce:

  • 240gms tinned Italian tomatoes (peeled)
  • 1 onion peeled
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. To make the meat balls, thoroughly combine all the ingredients, and form into balls.
  2. To make the sauce, puree the tomatoes and the onion together and place into a large deep frypan. Add the garlic and the water.
  3. Place the meatballs into the sauce and simmer, turning the meatballs occasionally.
  4. Cook for 20-25 minutes until the meatballs are cooked and the sauce is reduced.
