Italian Meat Balls
Ingredients:
- 400gms 90% fat free minced beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley and herbs (eg: sage)
- 2 pinches cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- salt and pepper
- serves 4.
Sauce:
- 240gms tinned Italian tomatoes (peeled)
- 1 onion peeled
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
- salt and pepper
Directions:
- To make the meat balls, thoroughly combine all the ingredients, and form into balls.
- To make the sauce, puree the tomatoes and the onion together and place into a large deep frypan. Add the garlic and the water.
- Place the meatballs into the sauce and simmer, turning the meatballs occasionally.
- Cook for 20-25 minutes until the meatballs are cooked and the sauce is reduced.
