Menstruation

The hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle are powerful and affect not only the uterus and ovaries but they also alter the metabolic rate, glucose tolerance, appetite, food intake, mood and behaviour.

Therefore increased hunger and carbohydrates craving just before menstruation are natural and will subside again once menstruation begins.

It may be difficult to convince a young person, but there is little doubt that prevention is the best treatment of obesity, cancer, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis and dental caries.  Undoubtedly, developing healthy eating habits while young is easier than changing bad habits after years of practice.
