Biotin - Vitamin B4
Biotin is one of the most active biological substances known in living matter. It is mostly bound to protein, probably as the coenzyme of several enzymes. Deficiency Is rare but has been experimentally induced in man and subjects suffered the following symptoms, fatigue, depression, sleepiness, nausea and loss of appetite. All were immediately relived by injection of concentrated doses of biotin. Dietary Sources It seems probably that we can obtain all we need from microorganisms present in food or from those that inhabit the large intestine. Liver, kidney and yeast extracts are the best food sources. Pulses, nuts, chocolate and some vegetables are fair sources.
